KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Trinity's postseason run came to a close on Friday afternoon, as the Trolls fell to top-seeded Grace (Ind.) 6-1 in the NCCAA Women's Soccer National Championship semifinals.
Trinity (13-6-5) had a number of chances in the first half, with three shots that missed the target along with Madison Ling's header in the 33rd minute that was saved by the Grace goalkeeper. The Lancers (17-5-2) struck first in the 16th minute, but Trinity would keep the game close in the first half, going into the break trailing 1-0.
A pair of goals shortly after the half would put Grace in control, scoring in the 51st and 62nd minutes to take a 3-0 advantage. Kara Amidon put Trinity on the board in the 68th, scoring her third goal of the season, with Grace Wieneke earning an assist on the play.
As the Trolls started to push forward in hopes of getting back in the game, the Lancers would put the game out of reach with three more goals in a ten-minute span.
Trinity closes out the 2022 season with a second straight NCCAA semifinal appearance, the eight year in a row with a national postseason appearance.
