PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – In a matchup between two CCAC contenders, Trinity and St. Ambrose battled to a scoreless draw at the Schaaf Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The pair of programs among those in a four-way tie atop the conference standings entering the game, both sides had multiple chances to break through with a potential game-winner, but a pair of saves from the Fighting Bees' goalkeeper and seven stops from Michelle Urribarri led to the draw. Urribarri registered her fourth shutout of the season, second-most in the CCAC, while her seven saves matches her season-high.
The Bees (4-4-3, 3-0-2 CCAC) managed to out-shoot Trinity by 13-6 margin, but the Trolls (4-3-4, 3-1-2 CCAC) regained the momentum throughout the second half following a red card issued in the 44th minute to give Trinity the man advantage.
Despite being out-numbered, the Bees managed to hold off Trinity's attacks, stopping both shots on goal, from Litzy Corona in the 52nd minute and Selah Hopkins in the 76th.
With the draw, both teams slide into a tie for 3rd in the league, with seven matches across the month of October to settle things. The Trolls will head to Saint Xavier for their next test, as they face the Cougars on Saturday, October 1. Kickoff from Deaton Field is set for 5:00 p.m.
