DAVENPORT, Iowa – Trinity's postseason run came to a close on Thursday night, as the Trolls stumbled against regular season champions St. Ambrose in the CCAC Tournament Semifinals, falling in straight sets on Thursday night.

Team Leaders

Taryn Hinken and Dej'a Williams led the attack with seven kills apiece. Hinken recorded a pair of digs while Williams added two block assists on the night.

Sharide Sykes picked up 16 assists, a season-best for a three-set match, as well as six digs, two kills and an ace.

Sarah Neighbors and Cecilia Zuniga led the defense with ten digs each. Neighbors added in five kills and an ace.

How it Happened

• St. Ambrose jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the first set, before Trinity responded with six straight points, including a kill from Brooke Veldman, an ace from Shannon Simpson, and four attacking errors. The home team came back with four in a row however, and held onto the lead the rest of the way for a 25-16 win.

• The Bees led 5-2 in game two, before kills from Hinken and Sykes, and a Jorieliss Caraballo ace tied the score at 5-5. St. Ambrose would go on to score seven straight to reclaim a 15-9 advantage, but back-to-back kills from Williams brought Trinity back to within a point at 16-15. The Bees put the set away with six in a row, going on to take the set 25-19.

• The closest set of the night came in the third, as both sides traded the lead six times throughout the game. Trailing 19-15 late in the set, the Trolls scored five straight to take a 20-19 edge behind two kills from Neighbors, and a solo block from Sykes. Hinken's kill followed by an attack error gave Trinity set point at 24-21, but St. Ambrose would finish off the night by coming back for five straight points to steal the set 26-24.
