Trolls fall in NAIA Tournament to Siena Heights

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – A late goal in the final minutes put the Trolls on the board, but Trinity women's soccer were unable to finish the comeback, falling 2-1 in the NAIA Women's Soccer Championship Opening Round to Siena Heights (Mich.).

Team Leaders

Demi Scibetta scored her 14th goal of the season for the Trolls (12-4-4) in the 90th minute, as Trinity avoided the shutout.

• Goalkeeper Michelle Urribarri made six saves on the night, and faced 22 shots overall.

Kara Amidon picked up an assist on the goal from Scibetta, and fired the only other shot on goal for the Trolls.

How it Happened

• After controlling possession for much of the first half, Siena Heights (15-0-6) broke through with a goal in the 36th minute, scoring on the rebound after a shot came off the crossbar seconds earlier.

• The Saints doubled their lead early in the second half with a goal in the 55th minute.

• Urribarri kept the Trolls in the game after a penalty was called in the 68th minute, making the save on the play.

• Scibetta put the Trolls on the board with less than a minute to play, as Trinity quickly looked for the equalizer, but ran out of time before getting another good look at goal.

• The loss puts a wrap on the 2023 season for the Trolls, who finish with 12 wins, marking the 21st consecutive season with double-digit victories.
