LA CROSSE, Wisc. – A pair of first-half goals would give Trinity the early lead, but a second-half rally from the hosts would result in a draw, as the Trolls took a 2-2 stalemate at Viterbo on Wednesday afternoon.
With the first of two strikes in the opening 20 minutes, Trinity's leading goal-scorer Demi Scibetta put away her eighth goal of the season in the 7th minute, with the assist coming from Emily Soriaga. In the 20th minute, Kara Amidon would score the third goal of her season, taking the assist from Grace Wieneke.
The V-Hawks (3-1-5, 1-0-2 CCAC) would get one back before the end of the first half, scoring in the 31st minute, leaving the Trolls (6-1-2, 2-0-1 CCAC) with a 2-1 advantage at the break.
Despite the Trolls out-shooting their opponents 12-7 in the second half, it was the home team that would break through for the only goal of the second half, as Viterbo found the equalizer in the 70th minute.
Trinity had a few chances to regain the lead in the closing moments, as Liza Gavalova's 72nd minute shot was saved, and a shot in the 88th minute from Jade Maldonado fired off the crossbar.
The Trolls return to the Schaaf Athletic Complex this weekend, as they put their four-match unbeaten streak on the line when they host Roosevelt on Saturday, September 30; kickoff against the Lakers is set for 12:00 p.m.
