PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Mackenzie Ling scored her first collegiate goal on Saturday afternoon, but a late strike would result in a 2-1 home loss for Trinity against St. Francis in the CCAC opener at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.
The Saints would open the scoring with an early goal in the 4th minute, despite being out-shot by Trinity 9-3 in the first half. In the 70th minute, Ming found the equalizer, taking a pass from Madison Tamminga and putting it in the back of the net.
St. Francis began to control more of the ball after the halftime break, taking seven shots to the Trolls' two in the second half. In the 81st, St. Francis would find their second goal to claim the road win.
Trinity will look to bounce back on Wednesday night, when they travel to Crown Point, Ind. to face Indiana Northwest. Kickoff from the Crown Point SportsPlex is set for 8:00 p.m.
