PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – A quick start from the Trinity offense set the tone early, as the Trolls continue their unbeaten run to kick off the new season with a 2-0 victory over Cornerstone (Mich.) at the Schaaf Athletic Complex on Tuesday.
How it Happened
• Senior Emily Soriaga struck first, finding her first goal of the season in just the second minute of play. Trinity (2-0-2) continued to control possession, out-shooting the Golden Eagles (2-1-1) by a 5-2 margin throughout the first half.
• The Trolls continued to pressure their opponents, eventually resulting in a second goal in the 72nd minute. Sophomore Hadley Vander Bent scored her first career goal, with Jaideyn Koster picking up the assist.
• Goalkeeper Michelle Urribarri secured the win, finishing the day with just one save and six shots faced overall.
Match Notes
• The match was the first meeting between the Trolls and Golden Eagles since 2017. That year was also a 2-0 decision in favor of Trinity, who lead the series 3-1 since 2007.
• Soriaga and Vander Bent are the fifth and sixth players to score a goal this season, and are tied for the team lead as all six players have one goal apiece.
