
Jonathan Lenarz ‘97 played for the men’s soccer team for three years from 1994-1996. In 1996 he was named the NCCAA Player of the Year, becoming the first Trinity athlete to receive the honor. He was named a NCCAA All-American for three straight years, earned All-Conference and NAIA All-Region honors in 1996, and was named a NAIA and NCCAA Scholar Athlete in 1995 and 1996. Lenarz ranks 2nd all-time at Trinity in career points (151), 3rd in career goals (57) and 4th in career assists (37), and holds the school mark for single season assists (18). His 1994 season included 23 goals and 14 assists. He helped the team advance to the CCAC finals in 1994 and 1996. Lenarz returned to Trinity to coach women’s soccer in 1998, leading the team to a 7-11-1 record. He spent two years as the head men’s coach (2002-03), guiding the squad to a school-record 16 wins in 2002, a NCCAA Regional title and a 5th-place finish at the NCCAA National Tournament.

Kara Bruxvoort ‘03 was a standout on the women’s basketball team from 1999-2003. She is currently Trinity’s all-time leading scorer with 2,771 points, ranks second in career scoring average (19.8), rebounds (1,410) and field goal percentage (.559), and third in blocked shots (434). In addition, she holds single-season scoring records with 800 points and a 22.5 average. She was a two-time NAIA All-American, including a 1st-team selection in 2003, and earned NCCAA All-American honors all four years. Bruxvoort led the team to a regular-season CCAC Co-Championship in 2002-03 and to the NCCAA national tournament in 2001 and 2003, with a 4th-place finish in 2001. Her other honors included CCAC Freshman of the Year in 1999-2000 and CCAC Player of the Year in 2001-02 and 2002-03. Bruxvoort also earned Trinity’s Women’s Athletic Award in 2001-02. She was a NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.

Steve Hilbelink ‘81 was member of the men’ soccer program from 1977-80, its first years as a varsity sport at Trinity. He became the Sports Information Director in 1981 and served in that capacity until 1996. He kept and compiled stats for all of the Trinity athletics teams, and started and updated the all-time record book. He developed computer stat programs, functioned as the photographer, and archived detailed records and stats for each team. Hilbelink also served as statistician and press contact for five NCCAA national tournaments held at Trinity and was the NCCAA Midwest District SID for 16 years. In addition, he worked as the NCCAA national statistician for volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and softball.
