Andy Jellema Andy Jellema ’09 was a leading distance runner on the cross country and track teams for three years from 2006-2009. As a cross country runner he was a three-time NAIA national qualifier with a best finish of 41st place at the 2008 national meet. He placed in the top four at the CCAC Championship to earn All-Conference honors in each of his three seasons.  He also received NAIA All-Region and NCCAA All-American recognition each year. Jellema ranks second in Trinity’s records book in the 8K with a time of 25:16. On the track Jellema set almost every distance record for Trinity and ranks in the top four in eight outdoor events, including school records in the marathon and 3000 meter. Jellema was the men’s track program’s first NAIA national qualifier and Trinity’s first athlete to place at the national meet with an eighth place finish in the marathon in 2009. In addition he finished in the top eight in individual and relay events at the indoor and outdoor NCCAA National Championships in each of his three seasons.  In 2009 he earned NCCAA Indoor All-American honors in the distance medley relay.  Jellema was awarded Trinity’s Keith Albers Memorial Award in 2008-09. 

Sara Ooms ‘11 was a four-year starter at middle hitter for the women’s volleyball team from 2007-2010. In her career she recorded 1,397 kills and ranks third in Trinity’s records book.  She set a single season attacking percentage record and ranks second in the career records in that category. In addition she ranks in the top ten in kill average (2.54), total attacks (3,233), solo blocks (101), and assisted blocks (367).  In 2010 Ooms earned NAIA All-America Third Team and NCCAA All-America First Team honors. She was named All-Conference twice, 2010 CCAC Player of the Year, NCCAA and NAIA/AVCA All-Region, and NAIA, NCCAA, and CCAC Scholar-Athlete. She received the Liz Metcalfe Award in 2010-11. Ooms led the team to the program’s first NAIA National Championship appearance in 2010 and in that season also competed in the NCCAA National Championship, where she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
