The 25-member 2005 women's soccer team, directed by Head Coach Josh Lenarz, set a standard for the women's soccer program and for Trinity as the first team in the College's history to win a national championship. In its first appearance at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship, the team claimed the title on November 21, 2005. Overall that year, the team had a final season record of 21-5-3, which was the first 20-win season for the program that began in 1996. The Trolls were 14-3-1 in the regular season with a 6-3 conference record. They played in 11 post-season games, advancing to the finals of each the CCAC, NAIA regional, NCCAA regional, and NCCAA national tournaments. They went undefeated at home at 9-0. For the season they set new Trinity team records in almost every category, including goals, averaging 3.79 per game, assists, points, and shots. They also allowed the fewest goals and recorded 12 shut-outs.
