Deborah Murphy will begin her 6th year as an assistant coach for Trinity Track & Field in 2024-25, where she works with the program's throwers.

Murphy comes to Trinity after coaching at the Division I level as an assistant at Rice and Head Woman's Cross Country & Track at DePaul. A former collegiate student-athlete, Deborah (Rutkowski) Murphy competed at Texas Tech, where she was an All-Southwest Conference Team selection in 1987, and bronze medalist in the Discus . In high school Murphy was a two-time IHSA state champion at Richards HS, winning titles in the shot put and discus, was a USATF National Champion in the Discus, and was inducted into the Richards Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006.

Murphy currently teaches third grade in the Indian Springs school district. She earned her bachelor's degree from Texas Tech in 1989, before earning master's degrees from Dominican University and Olivet Nazarene University.
