Team effort leads to win over Tigers

Box Score

The Trinity women's volleyball team competed against the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers as the CCAC regular season begins to wind down. Although the Tigers put up a fight, the Trolls were able to secure the win, sweeping Olivet in three sets.

The first two sets had wider winning margins for Trinity. The team was able to secure the first set 25-18 while pulling away further in the second set, winning 25-11.

In the third set, though, the Tigers attempted to make a comeback. They took the lead at various points in the set. But at the end, the Trolls were the ones who came out on top, securing a 25-23 win.

Leading the way for the Trolls were juniors Britta Heggeland and Mady Zula. Both of the middles recorded hitting percentages above .300, with Zula hitting .556 (six kills, one error and nine attempts) and Heggeland hitting .385 (six kills, one error and 13 attempts).

Senior Dani Van Laten also had a good night, registering 29 assists and 12 digs. She was the only Troll to grab a double-double tonight.

The team will travel to Saint Xavier to take on the Cougars over Fall Fest weekend on Saturday. The match will begin in Chicago at 1 p.m.
