Trolls unable to keep up with Cougars in CCAC loss

Box Score

The Trinity men's volleyball team was back at home today as they hosted the Saint Xavier University Cougars. The Trolls were unable to get into a rhythm, which caused them to lose the match.

In the first two sets, the Cougars took an early lead, putting the Trolls down 0-2. In the third set, Trinity was able to get ahead at the start, but it didn't take long for Saint Xavier to come back. The Trolls lost the third and final set to conclude the match.

Freshman Bart van der Mark was able to contribute five kills on offense along with an ace and three digs. Senior Jon Poortinga finished with a team-high two aces while junior Dan Ryan had a team-high three blocks.

The Trolls are now 6-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play. They will be back in action again on Thursday, Feb. 13 as they travel to Cardinal Stritch, who is currently contending for a top spot in the conference. The game is scheduled to begin in Milwaukee at 7 p.m.
