Box Score 1 The Trinity softball team had their second day of competition at the Tucson Invitational Games. After playing in two games, the Trolls went 0-2 on the day.
The first game they played was against the Madonna University Crusaders, who received votes in the last NAIA Top 25 poll. In the first two innings, neither team scored any runs, but in the second, Madonna grabbed the lead with two. From there, the Crusaders did not let up, scoring six more runs. The Trolls were unable to record any, losing 0-8 in the sixth inning.
Junior Audrey Ricker pitched three innings for Trinity, recording two strikeouts in that time. Three Trolls also got hits in this game, including senior Claudia Pareja, junior Makayla Otto and freshman Jordan Jones.
After that game, the Trolls hit the field again to play the Mount Marty Lancers. The Lancers had a huge start to the game, recording five runs in the first two innings. From there, freshman Lauryn Brown was able to bring in a run for Trinity. From there, the Lancers scored four more runs, causing Trinity to lose 1-9 in the fifth. Freshman McKenzie Murphey was able to record an RBI for the Trolls.
Trinity now has an overall record of 2-2 to start the season. They will be back in action again tomorrow, March 3 as they play Mount Marty and Northwestern College. The first game is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
