PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Led by Taryn Hinken and Brooke Veldman's seven kills apiece, Trinity hung with Indiana South Bend but ultimately fell in straight sets to the Titans, 25-18, 25-8, 25-20 on Thursday night inside DeVos Gymnasium.

Hinken finished with a .583 attack percentage on the night, while Emma Dykstra recorded 12 assists. Cecilia Zuniga led the defense with 10 digs.

The Trolls (3-26, 1-13 CCAC) battled throughout the early stages of the first set, tying the game at 13-13 with back-to-back kills from Sarah Neighbors. Four straight points for the visitors would put Trinity behind again but another kill from Neighbors and one from Veldman fueled a three-point rally to close the gap to 17-16. The Titans (13-12, 11-3 CCAC) pulled away however, scoring eight of the next ten to take the opener.

Game two was all South Bend, as the Titans jumped out to a 15-3 advantage. Lyniah Lee, along with Neighbors and Dykstra recorded kills but the offense struggled in a 25-8 defeat.

The Trolls bounced back for game three, taking an early 6-5 lead on a kill from Amanda Leibrock. South Bend used an 8-2 run to reclaim the lead, 14-8, and would remain in front the rest of the way.

Trinity is back in action on Saturday, October 29, when they host Indiana Northwest for Senior Day. First serve from DeVos is set for 12:00 p.m.
