Box Score PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trisha Noonan finished with ten kills as the Trolls' lone senior, but Trinity would fall in four sets to the visiting Indiana Northwest Redhawks as the team celebrated Senior Day inside DeVos Gymnasium on Saturday.
Noonan and Sarah Neighbors each finished with a team-high ten kills on the day, while Emma Dykstra tallied 16 assists. Defensively, Cecilia Zuniga registered 23 digs on the back line.
The Trolls (3-24, 1-14 CCAC) would lead in first set after a game-opening block from Taryn Hinken and Grace Steenwyk, but the Redhawks (15-10, 7-8 CCAC) moved in front, scoring six of eight points for a 6-4 advantage.
A kill from Steenwyk evened the score at 6-6, but IU Northwest responded again, going on a 10-2 run to lead throughout the rest of the opening set.
Trinity bounced back in game two, jumping out to an 8-3 lead highlighted by three kills from Noonan. Leading the rest of the way, the Trolls used a six-point run to pull away, with three more Noonan kills and a service ace from Dykstra.
The Redhawks took control of game three, scoring eight of the first ten points and eventually leading 15-4. A service ace from Shannon Simpson and a pair of kills from Brooke Veldman gave Trinity a 5-2 rally, but the Trolls were unable to pull any closer down the stretch.
In game four the Trolls used a run of nine straight points to build an early 13-5 lead, in a rally that included two aces each from Simpson and Neighbors. IU Northwest would battle back however, going on a 9-1 run to take the lead at 16-12. The visitors would remain in front the rest of the way to close out the match.
Trinity will look to bounce back on Tuesday, when they host Calumet for their final home match of the 2022 season. First serve from DeVos is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
