KISSIMMEE, Fla. – An early goal saw the opposition take a first-half lead, but Trinity would rally behind two goals in a four-minute stretch, as the Trolls took a 6-2 win over Bob Jones (S.C.) in the opening game of the NCCAA National Championship on Monday night.
Last year's NCCAA National Player of the Year, Brianna Uhl led the way for the Trolls (13-5-4), scoring her fourth career hat trick and first of the season in the win. Grace Wieneke pitched in with her fifth and sixth goals of the season, while Litzy Corona put away her 17th goal of the year.
The 7th-seeded Bob Jones (14-6-1) took the lead with a goal in the 8th minute, before a pair of scores from Uhl gave the No. 3 Trolls the lead before the halftime break. Uhl first struck in the 31st minute, before scoring again with an assist from Demi Scibetta in the 35th.
The Trolls then pulled away in the second half, with Wieneke's goal in the 58th and Corona's in the 63rd, to build a 4-1 advantage. Uhl secured the hat trick in the 69th minute before Wieneke finished out the scoring with another goal one minute later.
Trinity will look to advance to the knockout stage on Wednesday night, Nov. 30, when they take on No. 4 Oakland City (Ind.) Kickoff in the Group C finale is set for 5:00 pm CT / 6:00 pm ET.
