Palos Heights, Ill. - Playing against first-year program Olivet Nazarene (0-10, 0-1 CCAC) on Monday night, Trinity Christian College men's volleyball (5-4, 1-0 CCAC) swung their way past the visiting Tigers in a three-set sweep, 25-15, 25-19, 25-22. The Trolls attack was led by sophomore Alex Costa and senior Adam Becker. 

Becker, the former Trolls libero, has made a smooth transition into an outside hitter for his senior season. In his last two matches he has a combined 29 kills.

"It's definitely been a learning process," Becker said. "Every game I get to learn something new. Playing libero all my life, I didn't ever hit. Every game I feel like I learn something new to use."

While Becker registered 11 kills it was Costa putting together a 14-kill night. The Trolls jumped out to an early 20-11 advantage in set one. It was a couple of aces for freshman libero Arneet Garcha to aid the Trolls attack. Garcha proved crucial on the defensive end. He tied his season high in digs with 10. 

In the second set, the Tigers hung around. They trailed just 19-16 before the Trolls rattled off a 4-1 run to force ONU to call timeout. Costa ended the second set with a monster kill and a 25-19 victory. The final set was the tightest of the night. With the match sitting at 23-22 Trolls, senior Jake Ostema collected a kill to bring up match point. It was Costa ending the evening with an ace.

NOTES & NUMBERS: 

• Not only was Becker tallying up kills, he also did it with tremendous efficiency. His .471 K% (11-3-17) led the Trolls. Costa was right behind him at .375 (14-5-24). 
• Sophomore Nick Mioni dished out 17 assists to lead the Trolls. Sophomore Ryan Schmidt was right behind Mioni with 16 assists.
• Ostema continued his steady play. He had six kills and five blocks including two solo blocks. 
• The Trolls limited ONU to an attack percentage of .048. 

UP NEXT: The Trolls will welcome #14 Saint Xavier University (5-5, 0-0 CCAC) to DeVos Gymnasium. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST.
