Box Score

Chicago, Ill. - Trinity Christian College men's volleyball (11-7, 3-3 CCAC) extended their winning streak to five games on Wednesday night. A three set sweep at Roosevelt University (0-13, 0-7) starts off the first of three consecutive games for the Trolls. Trinity will now prepare for a talented Calumet College team on Thursday night in a crucial CCAC matchup inside DeVos Gymnasium.

The Trolls opened Wednesday with a dominant 25-9 win in the first set. Trinity held a 9-5 lead early, but went on an 11-0 run with sophomore Alex Costa serving. He had four aces during the run and surpassed 100 aces for his career.

In the second set, Trinity Christian struggled to pull away like they did in the first. With the match tied at 11, Costa collected one of his 14 kills on the night to give Trinity the lead back. Senior Jake Ostema wrapped up the second set with a kill to give Trinity the 25-20 win in set two. The Trolls didn't lead by more than four points in the second set until Ostema finished the game to give Trinity the five point win.

In the third set, the Trolls romped to a 25-13 win. To open the set, Freshman Matt Kentner finished off a 6-2 spurt with a kill. The Trolls maintained the six point lead when sophomores Bartlomiej Maciczak and Mike Hay combined for a block. Trinity led 12-6. The Trolls limited Roosevelt to an attack percentage of -.030% on the night.

Trinity picked up their fifth consecutive win in a different way than normal. Sophomore Ryan Schmidt entered Wednesday with just 17 kills. He rose to the occasion for the final point of the night and his 18th kill of 2022.
