Box Score 2 South Bend, Ind. - Trinity Christian College softball (7-15-1, 2-4 CCAC) went on the road Wednesday night and, under the lights against Indiana University South Bend (13-15, 4-2 CCAC), the Trolls dropped both games of their doubleheader. Trinity lost game one, 14-13, in nine innings. The Trolls then fell in the second game, 9-2.
Two freshman led the offense for Trinity. Jenna O'Brien and Alex Hofman combined for seven hits and six RBIs in game one. The Trolls trailed 11-10 in the seventh inning, but O'Brien singled up the middle to score senior Hailey Jurasz and tie the game at 11. O'Brien went 4-for-6 with three RBIs.
In the eighth inning, Hofman roped a double scoring senior Alyssa Martin, and sophomore Jolie Robertson, to give Trinity an 13-11 lead. The Trolls needed one more out in the bottom of the inning to end the game, but a triple from Emily Anglin tied the game at 13.
In the ninth, the Titans walk-off hit came from Olivia Zarantonello with a single into centerfield. The game finished with eight different lead changes.
Game two of the doubleheader featured too much offense from South Bend. They outhit Trinity 16-4.
In the third inning, freshman Myleigh Halmon doubled to give the Trolls a 2-1 lead. South Bend scored four times in the bottom of the inning and took advantage of five Trolls errors throughout the game. Maddy Edwards tossed all seven innings for South Bend allowing only two runs.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Senior Angela Abrand went 2-4 in game one and 1-3 in game two. She now has a seven-game hitting streak and is batting .346 this year.
- Halmon had two doubles in the first game and one more double in the second game. She is slugging .507 this year.
