Box Score SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Taryn Hinken led Trinity Christian with six kills on the night, but the Trolls were unable to keep pace with IU South Bend on Thursday night, falling to the Titans in straight sets 25-16, 25-12, 25-14.
The Trolls (2-16, 1-7 CCAC) took quick early lead in the opening set, with Abby VanCampen scoring an ace and Sarah Neighbors picking up her first kill of the night to go up 4-2. The Titans (7-11, 5-2 CCAC) bounced back with a 7-1 run and would lead throughout the rest of the set.
The home side would take the second set after a 6-0 start, and take a two-set lead in the match by a 25-12 margin. Trinity responded in the third set, eventually tying the score at 11-11 with a kill from Hinken. The game would get away from the Trolls down the stretch, as IU South Bend went on a 12-2 run to close out the night.
Emma Dykstra and Grace Steenwyk each finished with nine assists on the night, while Cecilia Zuniga tallied nine digs to lead the Trinity defense.
The Trolls will look to bounce back next Tuesday night, when they hit the road again to face Calumet. First serve from Whiting, Ind. is set for 7:00 p.m.
