PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Following last weekend's NCCAA National Invitational title run, a trio of Trolls were selected as the CCAC Men's Volleyball Athletes of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Juniors Alex Costa, Ryan Schmidt, and Mike Hay were named the CCAC Attacker, Setter, and Defender of the Week respectively. Costa averaged 5.5 kills per set to lead the Trolls (4-0) to a perfect record for the weekend, posting a .436 attack percentage throughout the tournament. In the season-opening win over Geneva (Pa.) on Friday, Costa posted 22 kills in the three-set victory.

Schmidt averaged 10.2 assists per set, including a high of 48 assists in Saturday's NCCAA semifinal win over Lancaster Bible (Pa.). In the championship match over Olivet Nazarene, the junior tallied 31 assists along with a pair of service aces and two kills.

With a total of 18 blocks throughout the tournament, Hay earns his first career CCAC Athlete of the Week award. In the semifinal and championship matches on Saturday, the junior combined for 13 total blocks over seven sets.

The Trolls kick off the CCAC season on Tuesday night, as they open conference play at Saint Xavier. Tipoff with the Cougars is set for 7:00 p.m.
