PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Trolls faced a tough test over the weekend, as Trinity volleyball took on No. 5 Viterbo (Wisc.) along with Saint Francis (Ind.) and Waldorf (Iowa) at the V-Hawk Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday.
Trinity (7-16) opened with a straight-set loss to the host V-Hawks on Friday afternoon, 25-9, 25-15, 25-19. Sarah Neighbors and Taryn Hinken each finished with a team-high seven kills in the match.
In the second game of the day, the Trolls fell in a rematch with the Cougars (6-16) in three, 25-17, 25-19, 25-23. Brooke Veldman paced the Trolls with seven kills, while Shannon Simpson posted 15 digs.
On Saturday, Trinity wrapped up their trip with a match against Waldorf, falling to the Warriors (11-8) 25-18, 25-19, 25-21. Alexis Bartz recorded the lone double-double for the Trolls, picking up 20 assists and 10 digs on the day.
Trinity resumes conference play on Tuesday night, when they welcome league leaders Judson to DeVos Gymnasium. First serve with the Eagles is set for 7:00 p.m.
