PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Coming out with a goal in the opening ten minutes, Trinity picked up three key points in the CCAC title race on Wednesday, defeating Judson 3-0 at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.
The Trolls (5-4-3, 3-2-1 CCAC) struck early, behind an 8th-minute goal from Ismael Aguero, the second of the season for the sophomore. Despite being out-shot 5-1 in the first half by the Eagles (3-6-1, 2-4 CCAC), Trinity would take the 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.
In the 65th minute the Trolls would double their lead, as Martin Markovic would take advantage of the Judson keeper playing out of position, and lofting a ball from 40 yards out into the net for the 2-0 lead. Trinity would seal the win in the 78th, when Lucas Camilo scored on a free kick for his second goal in his last two matches.
A strong performance from the back line in addition to six saves from goalkeeper Giorgos Christodoulou allowed the Trolls to secure their shutout victory of the year. In addition, the victory snaps a 23-match winless streak against the Eagles, dating back to 2002.
The Trolls will look to continue the momentum this weekend, when they host Governors State on Saturday, October 7. Kickoff from Schaaf is set for 7:00 p.m.
