Box Score 2 DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Trolls opened the CCAC softball schedule on Thursday, splitting a doubleheader with St. Ambrose with a 1-0 victory in the opener, and a 10-9 loss in game two.
Myleigh Halmon picked up both decisions in the circle, throwing a three-hit shutout in game 1. Jolie Robertson drove in the lone run in the win, with a two-out RBI single in the top of the 1st, scoring Charlie Sartoris for the early lead.
Robertson finished 2-for-3 in the first game, as both teams managed just three base hits throughout the opener.
In the second game of the day the Trolls (10-6, 1-1 CCAC) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, with a sac fly from Sartoris in the top of the 1st, and a two-RBI single from Angela Abrand in the 2nd. St. Ambrose (15-13, 3-1 CCAC) responded in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring six runs on five hits to take a 6-3 lead.
In the top of the 6th, the first three Trolls reached base, as Robertson, Isabella Hull, and Brandy Ogden drove in four runs in the rally to move back in front, 7-6. The Bees evened the score in the bottom half of the frame, and Robertson's two-RBI double to give Trinity the lead again, 9-7.
St. Ambrose would rally in the bottom of the 7th, as the first two Bees reached base. A throwing error would allow two runs to score to tie the game, and the home team would win on a walk-off triple to split the doubleheader.
Halmon had a pair of extra-base hits, going 2-for-4 with a double and triple in game two. Robertson was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, while Abrand and Odgen scored a pair of RBI each.
The Trolls are back in action on Saturday, when they take on Olivet Nazarene in a CCAC doubleheader held at Triton CC in River Grove, Ill. First pitch with the Tigers is set for 1:00 p.m.
