Box Score 2 ROSEMONT, Ill. – A pair of late rallies gave Trinity the doubleheader sweep on Tuesday, as the Trolls took a pair of road wins at Roosevelt, 3-2 in game one, and 2-1 in game two.
Myleigh Halmon (7-4) picked up the victory in the opener, surrendering just two runs over seven innings. After the Lakers (12-10, 4-4 CCAC) tied the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 2nd, both teams were held scoreless until the 7th. With two outs, Anna Lisa Fluder hit a pinch-hit single, leading to a go-ahead RBI triple from Charlie Sartoris. Halmon then pitched a perfect bottom of the 7th to secure the win.
In game two, the Lakers would take their first lead of the day with a sac fly in the bottom of the 1st. The Trolls (13-9, 4-4 CCAC) would put runners on base in four of the first five frames, but were unable to break through until the top of the 6th. Back-to-back doubles from Giulia Cianfriglia and Jolie Robertson tied the game at 1-1, and two batters later Angela Abrand put the Trolls on top with her two-out RBI single.
Jordan Jones earned the win in game two, pitching five innings with just three hits and one run allowed, while Katie Lorscheider secured the save with two scoreless innings.
Cianfriglia went a combined 4-for-7 at the plate over both games, with two doubles and a triple.
The Trolls return to Schaaf Athletic Complex for their first true home games of the season, on Friday afternoon when they host Saint Xavier. First pitch with the Cougars is set for 3:00 p.m.
