Box Score WHITING, Ind. – In a doubleheader cut short due to weather, Trinity Softball fell on the road, 9-4 at Calumet on Wednesday afternoon. In the second game currently suspended, the Trolls trail 1-0 in the 2nd inning.
Maddy McIntyre had a solid day in the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4 in game one, while Alex Hofman was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a home run.
The Trolls (13-14, 4-9 CCAC) struck first, with Hofman's solo shot in the top of the 2nd. The Crimson Wave (11-21, 5-5 CCAC) battled back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs on four hits to take the lead.
Myleigh Halmon led off the top of the 4th with a double, allowing Hofman to drive in another run with a base hit to center. Isabella Hull's sacrifice fly later in the inning would tie the game at 3-3, scoring Erin Curtin.
Calumet would regain the lead in the bottom of the 4th, then struck for four more runs in the 6th to build a 9-3 advantage. The Trolls would add another run in the 7th with Charlie Sartoris' two-out triple, driving in Angela Abrand.
The makeup date for the second game of the doubleheader will be announced at a later date.
