Box Score WHITING, Ind. – Trinity overcame an early deficit with a second-inning rally, but the Trolls dropped a matchup to the Calumet Crimson Wave on Wednesday, falling in the continuation of a suspended game from earlier this month, 5-4.
Falling behind 1-0 before the game was suspended back on Apr. 19, the Trolls (19-15, 10-10 CCAC) came back with three runs in the top of the 2nd. After Hailey Jurasz drew a walk to load the bases, a wild pitch would even the score, and RBI singles from Maddy McIntyre and Charlie Sartoris put the Trolls in front 3-1.
Calumet (15-25, 9-9 CCAC) responded with a run in the bottom half of the frame, on a walk and fielding error. Both teams traded runs in the 5th inning, as Myleigh Halmon drove in Alex Hofman with a two-out single, but the Wave would reclaim the lead in the bottom of the 6th. Back-to-back doubles would put the home team on top, and despite two reaching base in the top of the 7th, the Trolls were unable to mount another comeback.
Hofman finished the game 2-for-4 as the team's only hitter with multiple base hits, while Jurasz had the Trolls lone extra-base hit, going 1-for-2 at the plate with a run scored.
The Trolls close out the regular season and celebrate Senior Day this weekend, as they host Indiana Tech for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch from Schaaf Athletic Complex is set for 12:00 p.m.
