Box Score 2 KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Behind another gem from the a lights-out Trinity pitching staff, the Trolls advanced to the NCCAA Softball World Series championship game for the first time in program history on Wednesday night, defeating Arlington Baptist (Tex.) 8-0 in a six-inning game shortened by run rule.
Katie Lorscheider went the distance in the circle, holding the Patriots (17-24) to just two hits with six strikeouts over six innings of work; across the three games played at the World Series, the Trolls' pitchers have combined for just three hits allowed and one run.
Trinity struck early at the plate, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st after Charlie Sartoris' one-out single and stolen base, setting up the junior to score on a fielding error. The Trolls extended their lead in the 2nd, scoring three runs on three hits, highlighted by a two-run double from Maddy McIntyre.
Two more runs would come home in the bottom of the 5th, as pinch-runner Erin Curtin stole a base then scored on an error, and Angela Abrand crossed the plate on Erianna Claudio's base hit. Trinity would then end the game early in the bottom of the 6th after scoring two more, when Lorscheider reached base on an error, bringing home Sartoris for the eight-run lead.
Myleigh Halmon and Hailey Jurasz each finished with 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead the Trolls at the plate, with Halmon hitting a triple in the win.
The Trolls will now face Concordia (Mich.) in the title game, set for Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
