UPLAND, Ind. - The Trolls struggled over the weekend, competing at the Amber McClure Fayerweather Invitational hosted by Taylor (Ind.); Trinity would fall in four sets to Madonna (Mich.) before suffering straight-set losses to Indiana Kokomo and Indiana East on Friday and Saturday.
Three different players would lead the Trolls (2-10) in kills in each match; Raimey Owens would register 10 kills against the Crusaders (5-2) on Friday afternoon, Dej'a Williams would pick up nine kills against the Cougars (7-3) on Friday night, while Brooke Veldman secured six kills against the Red Wolves (6-5) on Saturday.
Freshman setter Alexis Bartz tallied a combined 50 assists throughout the weekend to lead the team, while Cecilia Zuniga picked up 25 digs during the tournament.
On Friday against Madonna, the Trolls would fall behind 2-0 after the first two sets, but bounced back to win game three, 25-23. Trinity led late in the fourth set 21-20, but the Crusaders would come back and close out the game on a 5-1 run to take the match in four sets.
The Trolls return to DeVos Gymnasium to resume conference play this Tuesday night, when they host Governors State. First serve with the Jaguars is set for 7:00 p.m.
