JOLIET, Ill. - Grace Wieneke's 62nd-minute goal would be enough, as the Trinity defense held St. Francis scoreless in Joilet on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Saints 1-0.
Three Trolls would get scoring chances in the first half, as Emily Soriaga, Kara Amidon, and Maddie Boogerd would all fire shots on goal, but would be saved by the St. Francis goalkeeper. After a scoreless 45 minutes, Wieneke would break through in the second half, scoring her first goal of the year to give the Trolls (4-1-1, 1-0 CCAC) the lead.
Goalkeeper Michelle Urribarri would make one of her three saves on the day after Trinity took the lead, but the Troll defense would limit chances for St. Francis to score the equalizer.
The Trolls return to the Schaaf Athletic Complex next week, as they look to remain perfect in conference play when they host Indiana Northwest on Tuesday, September 19.
