PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Trinity attack kept the pressure up early and often on Thursday afternoon, as the Trolls' women's soccer squad poured in five goals in a 5-0 shutout victory over Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.
Out-shooting their opponents by a 23-4 margin over the course of the match, the Trolls (6-1-1) found the back of the net consistently throughout the day. Trinity would take an early lead, when senior Kara Amidon took the cross in from Grace Wieneke in the 7th minute and scored her second goal of the season.
Less than ten minutes later, Emily Soriaga doubled Trinity's lead, scoring on a play set up by Olivia Andre and Demi Scibetta in the 15th minute.
Coming out of the halftime break with a 2-0 lead, Scibetta wasted no time, putting away the third goal of the day in the 46th minute. The goal gives Scibetta seven on the year, making the senior the lone goal-scorer atop the CCAC scoring race.
After assisting on the first goal, Wieneke got one for herself in the 65th minute, taking a long back out of the defense from Samanatha Wind. In the 83rd minute, freshman Nerea Genc scored her first collegiate goal to close out the match.
Facing just two shots on goal throughout the day, sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Urribarri secured her fourth shutout of the season, and the tenth of her career, with two saves in the win.
The Trolls will now break for the weekend, before heading north to take on CCAC newcomers Viterbo (Wisc.) on Wednesday, September 27. Kickoff with the V-Hawks is set for 1:00 p.m.
