PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Celebrating the careers of seven seniors before the match, Trinity Women's Soccer picked up a key win to secure their place in next week's CCAC Tournament by defeating Saint Xavier 2-1 at the Schaaf Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Despite being out-shot 11-5 in the first half, the Trolls broke through first in the 24th minute, with Litzy Corona scoring her ninth of the season. The visitors would quickly find an equalizer, with the Cougars scoring in the 26th to pull even.
The momentum slowly turned in the second half, as Trinity managed to out-shoot their opponents 10-2. In the 76th minute, Samantha Wind would put the Trolls on top with her first goal of the season.
The victory secures the No. 7 seed in the CCAC Tournament, giving the Trolls the chance to score an upset in the Quarterfinal round when they travel to No. 2 seed Olivet Nazarene. Kickoff with the Tigers is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6, with the game time to be announced later.
