ELGIN, Ill. - After 110 scoreless minutes, Trinity Women's Soccer would come up just short on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Judson in penalties for the NCCAA North Central Region title.
An even match throughout, Judson would out-shoot the Trolls 14-11 on the day; the Eagles would hold a 5-2 shot margin in the first half, before the Trolls took control after the break, out-shooting the Eagles 7-1 in the second.
The host Eagles would have chances to end the game in extra time, with eight shot attempts, but neither side would break through, leading to the shootout. A pair of early misses gave Judson a 2-0 lead after two rounds, and the Trolls were unable to come back.
Despite the loss, the Trolls still have an opportunity to earn an at-large berth into the NCCAA Women's Soccer National Championship, held in Kissimmee, Fla. beginning on December 2.
