PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. Tylan Harris and Silas Spaulding each led the Trolls with 18 points apeice, but St. Francis would come back from a narrow halftime deficit to defeat Trinity in their home opener on Tuesday night, 82-75 inside DeVos Gymnasium.
The Trolls overcame an early lead for the visitors midway through the first half, when Spalding came off the bench to hit four consecutive three-pointers on four possessions, turning a 21-14 lead for the Saints into a 26-21 Trinity advantage with 9:32 left in the first half. Trinity would go up by as much as six, on a Harris three-pointer at the 8:41 mark, before St. Francis trimmed their deficit to 40-38 at the halftime break.
The Saints would open the second half on a 9-0 run to move back in front, and would manage a small advantage the rest of the way. Trinity would tie the game at four different times in the second half but were never able to pull in front.
Harris finished with four assists on the night to go with his 18 points. Spaulding would finish 6-for-10 from beyond the arc, posting 18 points in 17 minutes off the bench. Danny Staskunas collected 14 points, while Chris Cross posted 12 points with six assists and four rebounds.
The Trolls will look to bounce back after the Thanksgiving break, when they host Indiana South Bend on Saturday, December 7.
