PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trinity men's basketball reached the century mark for the second time this season, as the Trolls picked up a dominant win over East-West (Ill.) on Wednesday night inside DeVos Gymnasium.
The Trolls would shoot over 50% for the game, going 38-for-71 (53.5%) from the field and 14-of-36 (38.9%) from three-point range. The visiting Phantoms would briefly take an early 4-2 lead in the opening minutes, before Trinity responded with an 8-0 run to claim a 10-4 advantage by the 16:36 mark of the first half.
Trinity continued to pull away, as Chris Cross' layup with 7:35 left in the first half gave the Trolls a double-digit lead for the first time. With a pair of buckets from Cross, Trinity closed the first half on a 9-2 run to go up 50-29 at the break.
The home team would continue to pull away in the second half, securing their first win of the season in DeVos.
Marcus Green led the way, scoring 31 points on 14-of-19 shooting, with eight rebounds. Cross finished with 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting and four three-pointers to go with six assists. Danny Staskunas tallied 15 points with five boards and five assists, while going 4-for-9 from beyond the arc.
The Trolls will look to keep the momentum rolling when they resume conference play on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Saint Xavier. Tipoff with the Cougars is set for 3:00 p.m.
