WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – Trinity Baseball nearly came away with an even split over a four-game set at Williams Baptist (Ark.) over the weekend, taking the second matchup but dropping the opener in walk-off fashion on Friday afternoon.
Team Leaders
• Ryan Grand led the Trolls at the plate, finishing the series 7-for-13 (.538) with an RBI and stolen base.
• Anthony Capelletti and Oliver Carmody both hit two home runs, as the duo combined for nine base hits, five RBI and five runs scored.
• Logan Strutz had the best outing of the four Trinity starters, throwing seven innings with five strikeouts and one earned run in the series opener.
Game 1
Williams Baptist 3, Trinity 2 (8 innings)
WP: J. Jones (1-0) • LP: Bettenhausen (0-1)
• The home team would take a 2-0 lead in the first inning, taking advantage of a leadoff double and RBI single to start the bottom of the 1st. A wild pitch later in the frame would give the Eagles the two-run advantage.
• Trinity bounced back in the top of the 2nd as four straight batters reached base, and Grand's RBI single scored Zach Hesse. Cappelletti would tie the game, scoring on a fielder's choice for the 2-2 score.
• The Trolls would leave the bases loaded in the top of the 7th as the score remained unchanged going into extra innings. In the bottom of the 8th, Williams Baptist took the win with a bases-loaded walk, 3-2.
Game 2
Trinity 6, Williams Baptist 5
WP: Hutcherson (2-0) • LP: Morrison (0-1) • Sv: Ulysses (1)
HR: Carmody (1), Cappelletti (3), Holleman (1)
• The home team would take a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, but Trinity would rally in with six runs in the top of the 3rd.
• Carmody, Cappelletti, and Holleman all homered during the rally, as the Trolls combined for six runs on seven hits and two walks.
• Williams Baptist would get runs back in the 5th and 6th innings, but stranded the tying run on second in the bottom of the 7th as Trinity secured the win.
Game 3
Williams Baptist 9, Trinity 3
WP: Jeffries (1-1) • LP: Hadley (0-1)
HR: Cappelletti (4)
• The Eagles would score in each of the first three innings, building an 8-0 lead by the end of the 3rd.
• The Trolls would bounce back in the top of the 5th, with leadoff hits from Grand and Carter Chaney which led to a three-run home run from Cappelletti to make it an 8-3 score.
• Williams Baptist would get a run back in the bottom of the 6th, while the Trolls were held to just one base hit over the final two frames.
Game 4
Williams Baptist 7, Trinity 3
WP: Carlisle (3-0) • LP: Berger (0-2)
HR: Carmody (2)
• Another early rally saw the home team go up 3-0 after two innings of play. The Trolls would get on the board in the top of the 3rd, on Brian Huttner's RBI double down the left field line, but the Eagles responded with four more runs in the bottom half of the inning for a 7-1 lead.
• Carmody's solo shot in the top of the 5th, followed by Joshua Nason's RBI single brought the Trolls to within four, 7-3, but Trinity was unable to pull even down the stretch to close out the series.

• Trinity heads to Kodak, Tenn. for four games starting on Monday, March 4, where they will take on Alice Lloyd (Ky.), Kentucky Christian, and Grace Christian (Mich.)
