MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Trinity Track & Field got the outdoor season started, securing seven entries into the NCCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships while competing at the Warrior Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran on Thursday.
NCCAA Qualifiers
• Senior sprinter Alyssa Busker made quick work in her two appearances, winning both the 100 meters and 200 meters. Busker posted a time of 12.2 seconds in the 100, and 25.39 in the 200 to meet the NCCAA qualifying standards in her first races of the season.
• Kyran Thurmond claimed first place in the men's 400 meters, finishing in 50.77 seconds to earn an NCCAA berth.
• One Troll earned a postseason spot in the distance events, as Jordyn Fleener reached the NCCAA standard in the women's 1,500 meters. The sophomore finished third in the event, with a time of 5:08.29.
• In her first collegiate appearance, freshman Ella Johnston qualified for the 400 meter hurdles, placing second with a time of 1:12.34.
• Three athletes also qualified in field events, highlighted by Ivan Emde's win in the men's pole vault. Emde cleared 13' 11.25" (4.25m) on his second attempt to take the win. Quinton Boyd placed 4th in the men's shot put with a throw of 43' 8.5" (13.32m), while Abigail Hoekzema placed 3rd in the women's high jump by clearing 4' 11" (1.50m) on her final attempt.
Event Wins
• The women's 4x400m relay team took home first place, as the squad of Aalyssa Gunn, Johnston, Fleener, and Lisowski posted a time of 4:33.11 to secure first place.
