Trolls split midweek matchup with Bees

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Preston Moore's home run and a complete-game victory from Chase Hadley led to a split doubleheader for Trinity Baseball on Tuesday afternoon, as the Trolls took the opener over St. Ambrose 5-1, but fell in the nightcap 6-3 at the Schaaf Athletic Complex.

Game 1
Trinity 5, St. Ambrose 1
WP: Hadley (5-3) • LP: Goggins (1-1)
HR: Moore (TCC) (2)

• After two full innings without a baserunner for both teams, St. Ambrose would load the bases in the top of the 3rd with one out, but were unable to cash in. Trinity broke the stalemate in the bottom of the 4th, with Connor Janik's one-out single, and a two-run home run from Moore.

• The Bees would get a run back in the top of the 5th, as a pair of singles set up an RBI groundout to cut the Trinity lead to 2-1. In the bottom half of the inning, Omar Wright's two-run triple would highlight a three-run frame that pushed the Trolls advantage to 5-1.

• Hadley would pick up his fifth win of the year, throwing all seven innings and allowing just one run on the day.

• Moore would go 2-for-3 at the plate, with a home run, two RBI and a run scored.

Game 2
St. Ambrose 6, Trinity 3
WP: Jacek (3-3) • LP: Noe (0-6)

• St. Ambrose would take advantage of two Trinity errors in the top of the second, taking the first lead of the game with three runs on two base hits. An RBI double in the 4th inning would push across another run to put the visitors ahead 4-0.

• Trinity broke through in the bottom of the 5th, as Wright, Oliver Carmody, and Janik would hit three straight singles, followed by a two-run double from Benson Holleman that made it a one-run game, 4-3.

• The Trolls would go down in order in the 6th and 7th frames, before St. Ambrose would tack on an insurance run in the 8th and 9th to secure the win.

Mike Zelko and Tanner Sobkoviak each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

• Carmody finished 3-for-5 at the plate with a run scored; Holleman went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
