Trolls earn more NCCAA bids at Chicagoland Championship

ELMHURST, Ill. – Seven more Trolls officially earned their spot at the NCCAA Track & Field Championships, as Trinity Track & Field competed at the Chicagoland Invitational, hosted by Elmhurst (Ill.) and Wheaton (Ill.).

National Qualifiers

Jordyn Fleener earned the women's team's fourth NCCAA entry, finishing the 800 meter run in 2:27.02 for a 26th place finish overall.

• Six more bids were earned on the men's side, including two in more in the 800 meters. Dustin Hudak placed 6th with a time of 1:54.56, while Zac Maher posted a time of 1:57.92 to finish 20th.

• Maher earned a second qualifying spot, joining Milos Pendic in the 1,500 meters. Pendic finished 17th overall in the 88-man field, posting a time of 4:04.01. Maher came in 37th, besting the qualifying standard by just under two seconds, with a time of 4:08.06.

• Two Troll throwers made the cut, in Quinton Boyd and Brady Loerop, in the Discus and Javelin, respectively. Boyd set a personal record in the Discus, with a toss of 38.30m (125' 8"). Loerop would finish 8th in a field of 53 athletes, reaching a mark of 44.71m (146' 8").

Winning Events

• Trinity came away with one victory in the stacked field, as senior sprinter Alyssa Busker claimed first place in the women's 200 meters. Her time improved from the season-opening meet at Wisconsin Lutheran last month, to 25.17.

Personal Bests

• Three women set personal records over the weekend, including Olivia Wrobel in the 5,000 meters (21:01.56), Abigail Hoekzema in the High Jump (1.51m; 4' 11.5"), and Katelyn Benitez in the Javelin (13.72m; 45').

• On the men's team an additional eight P.R.s were set, including the NCCAA qualifying marks from Maher in the 800, and Boyd in the Discus.

• Additional bests included Nathaniel Macias (2:21.64) and Jeremiah Klompien (2:33.94) in the 800 meters, Boyd in the Shot Put (13.78m; 45' 2.5"), and Brandon Dirks in the Hammer Throw (32.14m; 105' 5").

Next Up

• The Trolls continue the outdoor season next Saturday, when they compete at the Olivet Nazarene Tiger Open in Bourbonnais, Ill.
