Trolls shut out Pomeroys in road win

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – In their first road test of the year, Trinity Men's Soccer picked up their third win in a row and their second shutout of the young season in a 4-0 decision at St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.).

How it Happened

• The Trolls (3-0) controlled possession throughout the first half, outshooting the Pomeroys (1-2) by a 10-4 margin before the break.

• Senior left back Tiago Alfieri generated chances in the first half, resulting in a pair of assists as Guillermo Mate put the Trolls in front with the first goal of the day at the 40th minute. Less than two minutes later, Alfieri connected with Daniel Garcia for another goal, giving Trinity a 2-0 lead at the break.

• Alfieri found the back of the net himself in the second half, extending the lead to 3-0 in the 54th minute. Sophomore forward Ivan Perez got in on the action in the 67th, scoring his first goal of the season.

 Match Notes

• Through the first three matches of the year, Trinity has seen seven different players score goals; sophomore David Hernandez leads the team with two goals on the year.

• The Trolls have placed three different players at goalkeeper so far this season, with the trip of Giorgos Christodoulou, Zach Coppin, and today's debutant Roberto Navarro combining for a 0.33 goals-against average. Navarro leads the team with six saves after earning today's win.

Trinity wraps up the current two-match road trip on Saturday, when they take on Hannibal La-Grange (Mo.). Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
