Trolls take win at Calumet in four sets

WHITING, Ind. – Trinity Volleyball secured their fourth straight win, the team's longest win streak since 2020, after taking a road victory over Calumet in four sets on Wednesday night.

Sarah Neighbors led the Trolls with 11 kills in the win, along with 11 digs for her third double-double of the season. Alexis Bartz also finished with a double-double, tallying 42 assists and 14 digs.

The Trolls used a big rally midway through the first set to take control, scoring seven straight and 10 out of 11 for a 21-9 lead. Two kills apiece from Neighbors and Aolani Cannon closed out the set, 25-14.

With a narrow 15-13 lead in the middle of game two, the Trolls rallied again, scoring four in a row highlighted by an ace from Andria Ewalt and block from Bartz and Cannon to take a 19-13 lead. Trinity would score five of the last six to close out the set, 25-17.

Calumet bounced back in game three, opening with a 9-2 lead before the Trolls responded with a 10-2 run of their own to take a 12-11 advantage. The set would remain close down the stretch, and at 22-22, the Crimson Wave would take the set by scoring three in a row to force a fourth game.

Leading 10-9 in game four, the Trolls pulled away with five of the next six points and stayed in front the rest of the way.

Trinity will look to make it six straight wins on Saturday, when they host Goshen (Ind.) and Stephens (Mo.) on day two of the Trolls Classic, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in DeVos Gymnasium.
