PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trinity Men's Volleyball closed out the season on Saturday, when the Trolls took a set but ultimately came up short against Viterbo, falling in four inside DeVos Gymnasium.
Sam Cain led the attack, recording a team-high nine kills on the day. Caden Figus collected 20 assists with eight digs, and Samuel Kwan – after being recognized before the game as part of the Senior Day festivities – finished with seven digs and a pair of kills.
Viterbo would take the lead in the opening set on the third point, and would stay in front the rest of the way. Game two would see the Trolls jump out to an 8-3 lead on Austin Risser's kill, and remain in the lead until a late 5-1 run for the V-Hawks would put the visitors in front 21-20. Two kills from Risser and another from Kwan would fuel a 5-2 run to close out the set, as Trinity won 25-23.
The Trolls would open with a 4-2 lead in game three, but Viterbo would rally to tie the game at 6-6, then go on a 6-1 run to take the lead in an eventual 25-17 win for Viterbo. In the fourth, the Trolls would take a 2-1 lead to start, before the V-Hawks regain the lead en route to a 25-16 win and the match.
