PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – A late-inning rally from the Trolls would come up short, as Trinity hosted Grace (Ind.) for a non-conference matchup at the Schaaf Athletic Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lancers would take an early lead by scoring in each of the first three innings, taking a 4-0 advantage before Coltin Berger came on in relief to pitch two scoreless frames. At the plate, Trinity would struggle without a baserunner until the bottom of the 7th, when Casey Folkerts led off with a single through the right side.

Folkerts' base hit set the table for a rally, with Taiki Kondo singling before Omar Wright's two-run double. The Trolls would add two more in the 8th inning, when the first two batters would be hit by pitches to reach base before Folkerts' run-scoring base hit. The freshman would later score himself, on a wild pitch to make it a 7-4 score.

Folkerts finished 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Kondo reached base twice, going 1-for-3 with a walk, and Wright finished with a game-high two RBI and the lone extra-base hit for the Trolls.

Berger and Matthew Toledo each pitched two scoreless innings in relief, while Jacob Houlihan struck out two in his one-inning appearance.

The Trolls will make one final non-conference appearance, tomorrow afternoon when they host Roosevelt. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
