PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Trinity Baseball closed out the non-conference portion of the season on Wednesday, falling at home to NCAA Division II Roosevelt, 14-8.

After a first-inning run for the visitors, Trinity would take the lead in the bottom of the 1st, with Brodie Mayberry's RBI single scoring Josh Pilgrim, and later a bases-loaded walk drawn by Zach Hesse. Roosevelt would rally again in the top of the 3rd, scoring twice to reclaim a 3-2 advantage.
The Lakers would stretch their lead to 6-3 in the 6th inning, but Casey Folkerts would respond in the bottom of the 6th with a three-run shot, his first home run of the season that would put the Trolls back on top, 7-6. Mayberry would follow up with a solo home run in the 7th inning, but Roosevelt rallied late, scoring five runs in the top of the 8th and three more in the 9th to pull away.
Mayberry finished 3-for-5 to lead the Trolls at the plate, with two RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases.
The Trolls now resume CCAC play with their final series of the season, beginning at Saint Xavier on Thursday. First pitch with the Cougars is set for noon.
