PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Trinity Christian Athletics Department has named Toran Penner the recipient of the 2025 Rich Kooy Award.

The Rich Kooy Award recognizes a member of the Trinity community who contributed to the development of the Athletics Department. It is named in honor of mathematics professor Rich Kooy, who gave 27 years of service to Trinity Christian College, was a founding member of the Trinity Athletics Committee, and served as the faculty athletics representative.

Penner, '24 was starting member of the 2023 Trinity men's soccer team, which qualified for the program's first NCCAA Tournament appearance in 18 years. After graduation, the Winnipeg native joined the staff as an assistant coach, while also helping to assist student-athletes across all sports as a key member of the athletic training department, and as a frequent manager during the Trolls' home athletic events.
