Match Preview
• After two weeks on the road, Trinity Women's Volleyball finally makes their season debut at DeVos Gymnasium, when they host Olivet Nazarene in the CCAC opener on Wednesday night.
• The Trolls then hit the road again this weekend, with three matches at the Aquinas/Cornerstone Invite. Trinity will take on Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and Cumberland (Tenn.) before battling hosts No. 15 Aquinas (Mich.).
• Trinity went 0-3 at the Siena Heights Labor Day Invite, picking up a set against Spring Arbor (Mich.) but suffering sweeps against the host Saints and Lawrence Tech (Mich.).
• Senior
Dej'a Williams was named to the SHU All-Tournament Team over the weekend. During the three matches, Williams averaged 2.0 kills per set and had seven total blocks (three solo).
• The Trolls front line has been one of the team's biggest strengths of the early season; Trinity currently ranks 2nd in the CCAC in blocks per set (1.78), and is 4th in the league in total blocks (32).
• Senior
Dej'a Williams has led the Trinity offense so far this year, with 27 points. Williams is the only Troll to average over three points per set (3.38), on averages of 2.38 kills per set and 1.13 blocks per set.
• Williams leads the team with 0.89 blocks per set, good for 6th in the CCAC. The senior is also tied for 8th in the league in total blocks (16), and is 2nd in block solos (10).
• Setter
Sharide Sykes recorded the team's first triple-double of the year on Aug. 23 vs. Avila (Mo.). The senior tallied 11 kills, 11 digs, and 23 assists in the four-set match with the Eagles.
• The Trolls hold a combined 24-28 record all-time against their four opponents this week - 18-23 against Olivet Nazarene, and 5-4 over Aquinas. The Trolls squared off against Lindsey Wilson just once before, in a four-set win in 2014. Trinity and Cumberland met once in 2022, with the Phoenix taking a straight-set win.
