GARY, Ind. -- The Trinity Christian men's basketball team traveled to Indiana University Northwest for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest Wednesday (Feb. 11) and earned a 71-64 victory. Garrett Greene led the Trolls with 24 points, while Brandon Adorno added 19 in the win.
Both teams traded baskets early in the contest before IU Northwest used an 8-0 run over a four-minute stretch to take a 14-6 lead, capped by back-to-back three-pointers from the RedHawks.
Jaiden Gilzene ended the Trolls' scoring drought with a dunk off a pass from Wandy Munoz. A three-point play from Aiden Cilladi cut the deficit to 16-11 with under 10 minutes remaining in the half.
Adorno later knocked down a three-pointer to trim the margin to two (18-16), but IU Northwest responded with seven straight points to extend its lead to 25-16 with 7:13 left in the half. Ognjen Petkovic and Greene answered with back-to-back layups to pull Trinity Christian within five.
The RedHawks stretched their advantage to 33-23 with under two minutes remaining before halftime, but Greene connected from beyond the arc to cut the deficit to seven. IU Northwest took a 35-27 lead into the break, with Adorno pacing the Trolls with eight first-half points.
IU Northwest opened the second half with a basket before Trinity Christian answered with a 7-0 run — five points coming from Adorno — to make it 37-34. The RedHawks responded again, pushing their lead to 49-41 with 13:16 remaining.
IU Northwest later extended its advantage to 54-46 with 10 minutes to play, but Trinity Christian refused to back down. The Trolls used a 14-5 run over the next six minutes — including five points from Greene — to take a 60-59 lead.
TCC continued its surge, scoring eight consecutive points to build a 68-59 lead with under a minute remaining. IU Northwest added a late basket, but the Trolls secured the win at the free-throw line to seal the 71-64 victory.
