Amanda Fazzari begins her fourth season as head coach of the softball program during the 2021-22 academic year.
Last season, Fazzari brilliantly navigated the Trolls through a handful of postponements and cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Trolls pulled off an upset at the CCAC Tournament with a 3-2 victory over sixth-seeded Calumet of St. Joseph. The Trolls needed 10-innings to earn the victory before nearly taking down third-seeded Roosevelt University. They fell just shy though, 5-4.
In 2020, the Trolls’ season was cut short due to COVID-19. The team only played in the Tucson Invitational Games, where they had a record of 2-8.
During the 2019 season, she coached two pitchers who finished in the top 10 in the conference for batters struck out and also had an athlete who earned NCCAA North Central All-Region honors.
Before Trinity, Fazzari served as the primary offensive instructor and infield coordinator at Illinois Wesleyan University. She helped the Titans to conference regular season and tournament championships, regional and super regional championships, and to a runner-up and fifth place finish at NCAA Division III nationals. She was instrumental in improving the team’s run total and fielding percentage. She was a part of a coaching staff that was named the Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year in 2017 and 2018.
Fazzari also served as an assistant coach at Heartland Community College for one season, where she helped that team to a conference championship, district championship and a NJCAA Division II National Tournament appearance. Offensively, she aided in improving the team’s batting average while setting school season records in home runs and runs batted in. The team also improved in their fielding percentage.
While obtaining her graduate degree, Coach Fazzari served as the graduate student manager for the softball program at Illinois State University.
Fazzari played collegiately at Illinois Wesleyan for three seasons as a starting second baseman and shortstop, earning CCIW All-Conference honors in her senior year. She helped the team to two regular season championships, two conference tournament championships, two regional championships, one super regional appearance and a single season school win record (41-7) with a 21-game winning streak. Along with these accolades, she was an All-American Scholar Athlete.
A Wheaton native, Fazzari graduated from Glenbard South High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Illinois Wesleyan in 2014 and a master’s degree in kinesiology and recreation, sport management from Illinois State in 2017.
