Box Score 2 The Trinity baseball team finished their first road trip of the season with a double header against the Missouri Valley College Vikings. After concluding both games, the Trolls were unable to grab a win.
In the first contest of the day, then Vikings came out strong, scoring three runs in the first inning and one in the second. From there, Trinity attempted to come back by scoring three of their own in the fourth, but it wasn't enough. Missouri Valley grabbed another three runs in the sixth for Trinity to lose 3-7.
Scoring the three runs for Trinity was junior Will Kulcher, freshman Tyler Petersen and senior Frank Romano. Junior John VanderWall pitched the first five innings for Trinity, recording seven strikeouts in that time.
During the second game of the double header, the Trolls took an early lead, recording a run in the second and fourth innings. But in the bottom of the fourth, the Vikings scored two runs to tie up the game. It wasn't until the seventh inning that the Vikings scored another run, resulting in a 2-3 loss for Trinity.
In this contest, freshman Michael Moralez scored both of Trinity's runs. Sophomore Mike McIntyre pitched six innings for Trinity, registering five strikeouts and only one walk.
The Trolls are now 0-4 to start their season. They will be back in action on Friday as they head to the RussMatt Invitational in Florida.
